October has begun on a positive note for the Indian startup ecosystem as venture capital funding continued to remain at the higher level driven by two large deals of Simple Energy and SiMa.Ai.
VC funding on a weekly basis into Indian for the month of September has managed to remain above the $300 million level for three weeks except for one week where it had dipped below the $100 million level.
This has been largely due to the presence of deals with value above $100 million and the month of September saw four deals above $100 million.
The total funding for the first week of October came at $418 million across 22 deals. In contrast, the previous week saw a fund raise of $382 million.
This week there were two deals above $100 million each and this made a significant difference to the overall fund inflow. It is always the large deals which make the difference in terms of funding amount raising.
The month of September has been a pleasant surprise for the Indian startup ecosystem and the expectation is that this momentum will continue.
